What Is Length of Pull and Why Does It Matter?

Length of pull (LOP) is commonly measured from the trigger face to the buttpad, but the useful fit decision comes from the exact rifle, recoil pad, optic position, shooting position, and clothing. Check the current manufacturer specification for the model and measure the actual setup; do not apply a generic factory dimension or average-shooter rule.

A stock that is too long or too short can affect shoulder contact and trigger reach, but no recoil, accuracy, or comfort outcome can be inferred from a generic description. Set eye relief first and check the actual position.

How to Measure Your Optimal LOP

There are several methods, but here is the one I find most reliable:

Actual-rifle check: With the rifle unloaded and eye relief set, shoulder it in the position and clothing used. Check shoulder contact and trigger reach without forcing head or arm position. No single finger landmark establishes correct LOP for every shooter or position.

Avoid proxy measurements: An elbow or forearm test does not account for the optic, shoulder position, stock geometry, or shooting position. Use the actual rifle and confirm the result safely.

If the stock is confirmed too short after eye relief is set, add only the length required. If it is already too long, a spacer is the wrong correction.

When You Need LOP Adjustment

Your actual fit check shows the stock is short. Height alone does not determine LOP. The Original LOP Kit adds 10 or 20 mm as supplied; every spacer option adds length and cannot shorten the factory stock.

You have evidence of a fit problem. Group variation alone does not identify LOP as the cause. Check rifle condition, optic setup, ammunition, support, conditions, position, and shooter input before buying a part.

Installing the LOP Spacer Kit

Step 3: Reattach the recoil pad with the hardware supplied for the confirmed setup, tightening evenly.

Step 4: Check that the pad aligns and tightens securely, then shoulder the unloaded rifle and re-check trigger reach and eye relief. Stop and contact Nokka if anything does not align or tighten correctly.

LOP and Cheek Height — The Connected Setup

After changing added length, recheck eye relief, shoulder contact, trigger reach, and any cheek-riser setting on the actual rifle. Do not assume a fixed head-position change.
